I’m 25 and have had my AOL email since before I was born, set up by my parents. In the late 90’s and early 00’s every now and then they would send a few photos to it perhaps with an accompanying story of anything that they’d want me to remember. I then used it as my main email and have continued to till this day.

During a job interview today I was told I was great fit but they weren’t sure about my email address!

Apparently they can tell a lot about a person just from the fact they have an AOL email address in 2023.

Has anyone else had something similar, is it actually a big deal?

Some companies and organizations may judge you a little. However, I am also a holdout. My @ aim.com email is my main email.

I bet if you ask people what Gmail features they use in their personal inbox the answer will be “none” aside from the standard inbox. Most people are pompous enough to brag about having something “better” when they don’t actually use any of the added features… So why would it matter?

Anyway… I do have to say, Gmail does have better ways to filter and view your inbox. The AOL mail interface is very basic and doesn’t offer a whole lot for a customizable UI, filtering, and other basic settings. It has been on my list for a long time, but I just know that when I do it, it will take forever to change my email in all the services I want to move over. I’d say either Gmail or Proton.
