It’s Sunday, November 26th. It’s a chilly, overcast Fall day in East Rutherford, New Jersey where the pats will be taking on the giants. All the pats need to do is lose & they almost guarantee a top 3 pick (and an elite QB prospect)
It’s late in the 4th quarter of a game the giants are winning 13-10. The patriots have the ball and are driving down to the giants 32 yard line, and it’s 4th and short. You scream at your TV for the pats to kick a field goal, but instead the pats are sending out their offense to pick up the conversion. Miraculously, the pats not only pick up the 1st down but also score a touchdown on the play to make it 17-13 with only a minute left to go in the game
The patriots kick the ball off to the giants, where they are able to successfully keep them from scoring the winning touchdown. As the clock ticks down to 0:00, the camera pans to Belichick who is smirking on the sideline, seemingly proud of himself for winning a meaningless game that moves the pats up several spots to the 6th overall pick
Belichick is one win closer to Shula’s record, and the fan base is in shambles because we are now several steps further away from finding a generational QB
Brace yourselves pats fans, because this nightmare scenario very well may become our harsh reality come Sunday afternoon
