There are endless discussions about lacking: spacing, defense, ball security etc. All of that is true. But it doesn’t explain the anomaly of losing 12 straight (or 4-36 dating back to last year).
There are never discussions about the mental side of competition. Its not as simple as scheme or personnel. Lots of young players on good teams don’t crumble like ours do in the 4th quarter. They expect to win games because theyve known what it feels like and what it takes.
These young guys on our squad (Stew, Ivey, Killian, yes even Cade) have been losing so much because Troy allowed them to. He chose to tank for 3 years for chances at a lottery ticket. And now, when you think its time to “turn a corner” you expect them to learn how to win games all of a sudden? Something they’ve never done?
Im no professional. But they need to address this issue. If you don’t think that competition is LARGELY a mental game, then you must have never competed. I’ve competed vs people who lose and lose and lose even if they clearly have talent and put in the work! But for some odds-defying reason, they can never win. Because of some deep thought patterns/confidence, etc.
Idk I think sports psychology is really interesting lol worth some discussion
He averages 12 points a game.
