My current setup is a Dynalink WiFi 6 AX3600 Router & I am using a old Linksys router as an access point. Yes, it is wired. I added the access point because the wifi on one side of the house is non-existent. My current internet provider is VZW-5G & I have been happy with it. Most devices in the house such as printers, computers, TV’s and such are hardwired back to a TP-Link non-manage switch. Everything works for the most part.

I do not like the interface on the Dynalink router & have found it difficult to configure. For instance, port-forwards & blocking certain devices from accessing the internet have been difficult to configure. I also want to run a VPN & configuring Open VPN didn’t work either. Also, I don’t necessarily want to have to switch Wi-Fi SSID’s when I move to a different room in the house.

I am looking for something that doesn’t necessarily require an advanced degree to configure the way I want it. I see most of the Mesh systems are on sale right now. I don’t currently have any devices that could take advantage of the 6 GHz band. I have seen some of the wifi 7 router now that have a separate band specifically to use with your smart home devices. While this would be nice, I am not spending upwards of $1K for a router.

The TP-Link Deco AXE5400 WIFI 6E is on sale for $200.

The TP-Link Deco AX3000 WIFI 6 is $140

Right now I do not need the 3rd band but is there a difference in the interface between the two? Does anyone have another recommendation that will not break the bank?
