I haven’t seen anybody talking about some of the comments Saleh made recently. Maybe I missed a thread or something, but some of the comments I thought were really eye-opening.

  1. He said on the Michael Kay show that the plan was for it to be a redshirt year for Zach. If Zach was never supposed to see the field, then why was he made the backup QB back in March? I definitely think either Woody or JD forced Saleh to keep playing Zach after hearing this. JD has been super stubborn with admitting that his draft picks were mistakes, so it wouldn’t surprise me. This would explain the “plead the 5th” comment.
  2. When talking about drafting Zach Wilson, he strongly implied that he wasn’t totally on board with the draft pick. Idk if he was trying to insinuate this out of self-preservation or if he really didn’t want to draft Zach Wilson, but idk, worth talking about IMO.

I feel like most people would agree that it seems like there’s strong cooperation between Saleh and Douglas, but maybe there’s not. Maybe they really are not on the same page.

I don’t think people realize how much money they’d be paying at QB to sign yet another guy in the offseason

Think about how much Zach and Rodgers already cost

And no one expected rodgers to be out for the season game 1. You simply cannot plan for that.

Zach was the back up because you’d be fine going to him for 2-3 if you had to. The season was lost with Rodgers whether people want to admit it or not

Sam Darnold left and immediately turned heads (most of those heads turning to us and our QB development) so I cant really say there was no reason to not think Zach couldn’t improve after a year behind A Rod. After all, he is still a 2nd overall pick. Hell, a high percentage of NFL fans thought Zach would become a QB good enough to win with behind a HOF’er like A Rod. Even analysts were on board.

A Rod goes down and that narrative gets blown to pieces in mere seconds when we learn Zach will be the starter for the near future. Now everyone’s pretending having Zach learn under A Rod was never a reason he was still on the team. This all cannot be forgotten bc of the fact that no one enters a season 75% sure that their starting QB will be wiped in the first seconds of their first game. Even as Jets fans, this is definitely a new low that will def be a poster for Jets fans 20 years from now.

Who has JD been stubborn about? Becton, AVT, Sauce, Garrett, JJ, Breece, MCII, Tippmann, WMD. Trades Mims, trades Moore.

Who didn’t deserve playing time that JD secretly pushed to be on the field? Which of these guys was a glaring mistake JD just wouldn’t acknowledge?

I think some of us are looking so deep for answers that we’re making things up in our head.

The truth is, this is a staff that parlays freak physical traits into good/elite players. Zach’s no different when it comes to the traits aspect.

I definitely think either Woody or JD forced Saleh to keep playing Zach

oh my god please stop with this

this is the dumbest fucking talking point ever why do so many people in this sub keep saying it? why would Woody or JD or anyone give a fuck whether or not Zach is the backup qb? it doesn’t even make any sense

there doesn’t need to be a huge conspiracy about everything
