Week in and week out, this team has won ugly. The theme of this year has been, “if they play like this next week, they will lose”. Except they don’t.

Still, people are pining for a blowout. For a statement game where there are no “yeah but” moments. A few games where we can feel better about this team heading into the postseason.

You know who gets wins like that?

Dallas.

And how much do those pretty wins in the regular season help them in the playoffs?

“Winners find ways to win.” “Winners make their own breaks.” Cliche? Yes. But the Eagles are winners.

If you favor stats, there is this bit about Guts vs. Stomps: https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/hEhbeQwoVw

By my count, the 2023 Eagles are trending to at least 1 Stomp (vs. Bucs), 1 Stinger (vs. Jets), 1 Domination (vs. Dolphins), 3 Skates (vs. Patriots, 2X vs. Commanders) and 3 Guts (vs. Chiefs, Cowboys and Vikings). Obviously I would love to see a few more Dominations in these next 4 games but ideally the last 3 games should Stomps.

As the statistical analysis seems to show, there is some value in seeing both the offense and defense do whatever they want in a blowout. We have only really seen that twice in the last 10 games. And twice more if the Vikings and 2nd Commanders game ended after 58 minutes. So while I am very pleased with how the Eagles have achieved their league best record with many gritty, grimy wins, there is just a slight hint of a lack of confidence because they aren’t flat out dominating contenders and stomping on minnows.
