I’ll try to keep this brief, as even thinking about it makes me want to pull my hair out.
So my psn account was hacked several months ago. It was shitty but I got that taken care of. I go back to jam some Elden but the whole mess had logged me out. No big deal right? Turns out, I can’t, for the life of me, remember my password. Some of you already know where I’m going with this. I select ‘change password’ and it takes me to the QR code/manual reset page. I give them my email to get this seemingly simple process moving. I wait 10 mins or so and check to see if I had received it. No dice. Checked spam folder. No dice. Okay fine so just decide to be patient and check the following day. Dice in the negative. Next I wait until the weekend. Okay now that’s odd. I end up repeating this several times throughout the following days. I call their support line and the guy seemed helpful and had gotten many similar calls. He said my account had been frozen bc of the hacking and that it should be back up in 24 hours. He also said that I’d be receiving the actual reset password email after said 24 hours. Great! Well you can probably guess, bc you’re reading a reddit post about it, that I did not and have not received any such emails. I’ve since tried using their chat bot for help bc I had read that that had worked for some folks. Well not for me. Dumb thing didn’t “understand” half of what I was saying.
That brings me here. I’ve bought a shit ton of games throughout the years. It’s one of the few hobbies that I have kept up with as I get older. I’m sure I could factory reset and just start a new account, but if I truly am just fucked here, I don’t think I can justify giving Sony another cent by starting over. I’m here, a desperate soul, seeking that one magical avenue that I haven’t tried that will make this mythical “change password” email appear in my inbox. Also apologies. This was not as brief as I had intended.
