Hi there!

Received the OLED 1TB today. Generally, a wonderful device - have to say. But what caught my attention is that once placed on an even and flat surface, the Steam Deck rocks ever so slightly when touching the screen. Does this happen with your Decks as well? It’s really a minor thing, but I wonder if this translates into problems in the case itself and possibly the electronics inside. Plus, it’s not exactly cheap… Wonder what you guys think.

Yes I have this problem on my 512 OLED also. You gotta pick and choose your battles I suppose for QC considering a Deck is almost never being used on a flat surface that was probably one they were willing to overlook. That being said it does destroy a tiny piece of my soul every time I’m reminded of it.

Very well put, indeed! :D “Clonk goes the deck on the desk as we push any button.” Maybe it sorts itself out with time.

I think I’d not even notice it if it wouldn’t be customary for hardware reviews on YouTube to wring and bend devices and see if they creak or flex, checking “build quality”.

At this price and weight I think it’s a fair trade off. Also I just tried to bend the case a bit and you can actually nearly fix it but also make it worse in the opposite direction. I didn’t bend too hard and I’d recommend not doing it because you might crack the screen.

Yeah, you’re right. My device has no other flaws, so I’ll leave it at that and not conjure up pain. Have fun with your deck! I start to realise mine will replace my rtx 3070 and 12 core gaming pc.
