All I wanted from Love this season was to be better than Fields and he clearly is.

I find it odd that this article portrays Mahomes as a great athlete when running the ball. He’s not. Mahomes is a Houdini at escaping pressure, but he’s not notably fast when scrambling for a 1st down. In fact, I think Love has the faster 40 time. What I do agree with is that Jordan Love is a gamer that sees and attempts big plays, and he has the physical tools to make them. He’s not a Manziel type either. He puts in the work, knows the offense, works through his progressions, and seems to have the temperment to succeed.

The biggest reasons quarterbacks bust is either because either they can’t read the field or they’re not serious about the game. Love doesn’t have either of those failings. His biggest issue right now is inconsistent mechanics/ball placement. Those seem like things that can be improved with coaching and experience. I wouldn’t say his turnovers are Favre-esque. They’re usually ball placement issues more so than trying to fire the ball through the defender’s helmet. If you want to watch a contemporary Favre, that’s Josh Allen.

Love is an average NFL starting quarterback. Trade him in the off-season for a younger QB that can be more accurate and make quicker reads than Love but still making mistakes. Paying 40 plus million for love is terrible. He’s prime Tannehill average.
