    Not true.

She probably speaks from her own experience and that’s fair, but from an objective overall standpoint, you’d find a highlight online posted saying “Rublev breaks racquet!”, “Zverev goes crazy!”, “Djoko misses a smash and yells before smashing the racket!”, “Bublik doing Bublik things”. etc at least 3 times a month

While if you go back starting this season I doubt you’d see even half of those highlights featuing women reacting angrily to missses and losses.

Ask hardcore tennis fans to name “most likely played to react overly emotionally during or after a game”, I guarantee majority would say Kyrgios or Rublev or Bublik or whatever, and probably just less than 2% would say Iga or any other WTA player

I don’t get her point here. Anyone who reacts is criticized online. People were talking about Rublev’s weak mentality all week. People comment anytime one of the players gets mad on the court. Maybe the few comments directed towards her, she just notices more because they are towards her, so that is understandable. But people have been saying shit like “Djokovic is over” or “Alcaraz is over” anytime they lose. It’s just dumb internet people being dumb.

The men here acting dumb as always when the glaringly obvious double standards are pointed out. Compare the Serena incident with Carlos Ramos which has literally followed her ever since to the stuff the men do which is pretty much forgotten by the time the next tournament rolls in. That pretty much should tell you everything what Iga is trying say here

I would love to see female players absolutely demolish rackets. For various reasons…

She’s right in a general sense but I also think she’s specifically referring to how she’s treated by polish media. Every single time she gets a little frustrated they comment on it as if she has lost her mind and every single time she loses there are experts saying this is because “her head wasn’t there”. Hubi also sometimes gets frustrated on court but he is never criticised for it (not that he should be) and the only negative comments he gets are that he’s too nice.

Tennis journalists in Poland are mainly frustrated old men who hate women’s tennis and later in this interview she even calls out specific people who criticised her saying they don’t know anything about her life. To give some perspective one of these men is a eurosport commentator who during RG muchova/sabalenka match went on a rant about how women’s tennis is interesting because some of the players are hot and no one wants to watch women’s hockey because “there is nothing to look at”.

They also obsessively hate her sports psychologist to a point that it gets weird. She adresses it in this interview as well and it’s a great read. It’s in polish but google translate is pretty accurate so here’s the link if you’re interested: interview

She is very thoughtful and reasonable in that interview. She very correctly called out her critics as people with no insight, who stand to gain from click bait articles.

Yeah I don’t know why people here are assuming she’s talking about Western English-speaking media. I suppose it’s just the Western lens (“Everything is about me and if it isn’t I’ll make it about me”), but it’s clear that the situation in Poland is very different.

I consider this a perfect response for the “she was found out” claims from experts here when she lost on USO
