Was high diamond in overwatch 1. Due to rank decay and not playing. Now gold.
Recently tried to climb. First 5 matchs today. Someone on my team left immediately after the match started meaning I get a lose and physical can’t rank up.
I’ve gone 4-0 as tank 19 fucking times now and them get 2 to 3 leavers matchs preventing me from ranking up. For the first time in my entire overwatch Career of 6 years I got a rank change from just loses. 0-15. 15 loses cause people kept leaving and we had an ana throwing. Only 2 of which was my fault as all the others I had stats equal to my teammates and above.
They need to male it a permanent ban if you leave a comp match for the season and remove loses or make it count as a tie if your someone forced to deal with a 4v5 cause one of your teamates left 1min into the round.
For clarification. The match i just did it was barley a minute in, we were winning, someone left. And ive experience that 3 times today. Another match someone left after first round we lost point capture albeit they sucked and them leaving didn’t make much of a difference, and another was about 4 minutes into a payload map where teams were even.
Idk what to do anymore. My stats at the very least are above average consistently. I’m getting picks, taking space with ease. Baiting cooldowns, and no matter what I either get a leaver or a thrower. No matter what this system will not let me rank up. I ranked down to silver after going 5-6 with 2 ties. I can’t keep doing this shit. It’s not even a tank thing. New hog is good, im killing it with him. Even noob orisa mains can’t stop me. But this doesn’t matter if it’s consistently a 4v5.
I can’t be the only one who thinks leavers penalty in comp should be harsher, and those who get stuck with a leavers shouldn’t get punished. It’s one thing if someone leaves like, 2 rounds in. But in the first 2 minutes? Why the hell am I getting punished cause some idiot ana cant hit her shots and rage quitted?!
some of these takes are a little peculiar but honestly, the low ranks are hard to get out of and i understand your pain. i mean dont get me wrong, youre batshit crazy with the punishments but i see where youre coming from. people in the low ranks dont take comp as serious as in high elo, so theyll leave or throw at the slightest mental block. i feel you, ive been there. the only advice i can give you is to go onto discords and try your best to get a teammate, or a few. and if youre too awkward to talk over mic (most of us are) just find other people who dont want to talk either. theres lots of people out there in gold who also want to rank up.
also, brother, get a little perspective. i agree that having a leaver shouldnt count as a loss but, it has to. because if it didnt then people would just duo queue with one person on a smurf account, and if the games unwinnable that smurf can just leave. and they can repeat this until theyre top 500. it would absolutely break the competitive system.
and as for a season ban for leavers, yeah ill keep it real thats a shit idea. i do agree they do need to maybe increase the punishment a small bit, but you have to understand people may leave for genuine reasons. not just internet outages (as you have already had some scolding hot takes on) but other reasons. shit, i left a game before because i had to check on my brother because i thought he was choking. people have reasons, were not just AI sitting at a desk playing overwatch.
