The ref probably said to the VAR team - I know he didn’t mean it but he did take the legs of the Newcastle player. I think VAR was just checking if there was contact or not.
He did look like he stopped but he’d still done enough for it to be deemed a foul.
Very harsh. The Newcastle player did look for it too. But it still is what it is. If the Wolves player didn’t swing his leg the Newcastle player could have passed the ball and it could have led to a goal or a shot on goal.
Harsh, but correct in my opinion.
