This is a slightly abbreviated version of my blog post.
For the recap of Week 11, check out my FantasyPros article or my weekly video!
Wait, what is FGW? Here’s where I explain that in writing and on YouTube.
TL;DR: FGW is the likely change in win percentage of Head-to-Head fantasy football matchups a player has won his team. dFGW is FGW adjusted for ADP. Going from 50% to 95% is FGW of 0.45. % Started also matters.
Fantasy Football Leaderboard Updates - Post Week 11
It’s the classic line – “of course, because I started him, he did poorly” or “of course, because I benched him, he went off”. This week might actually be the worst example of that behavior that I can remember…
It will become clear which players caused the classic line as we dive into the MVP race. What we have he are MVP measurements based on cumulative FGW and dFGW through the season thus far.
Might have more A.J. Brown bad weeks coming
- The incontrovertible Tyreek “King of the” Hill. The single-season record for FGW is 3.01 points by Cooper Kupp in 2021. Tyreek would have to pick up the pace a little bit to get there, but it’s within reach.
- McCaffrey is doing well by his own right. He’s ahead of the pace set by 2022 FGW MVP Travis Kelce, whom hit 2.23 by season’s end.
- A.J. Brown was a slight miscommunication with Jalen Hurts from having another big day. Tyreek and A.J. are the prototype high-risk/high-reward WRs in fantasy ATM.
- (I use ATM to abbreviate At The Moment. Rarely for a cash machine. Not for that other thing you’re thinking about, either.)
- Kelce still holds a 0.06 FGW lead over Tyreek in the “career” FGW ranks (since 2021).
I’m going to double check that equation. Allen almost certainly should be #1, right?
- Under any normal circumstances, Keenan Allen would be the best Return on Investment player of the year so far.
- The Dallas Defense’s performance is just dumb at this point. Seriously, another huge week?
- Secretly rooting for Hockenson to pass Kelce so I can make “T.J. Hockenson is an actual viking” jokes.
- Not on the list: De’Von Achane. He’s down to 0.06 FGW for the season after getting hurt in Week 11 and cratering lineups. That’s what we get for going to 8chan for Fantasy tips.
More Joe Burrow pain than Trevor Lawrence pleasure in Week 11.
- Tony Pollard with a positive week! We’re another positive week or two away from Pollard managers pulling a Theoden.
- While Alexander Mattison, Dameon Pierce, and Miles Sanders have gone quietly into the proverbial night, Aaron Jones still slamming lineups with bad weeks.
- And so is Najee Harris! He stayed at 61% started this week after his 17.1 point outing in Week 10, and dropped a 4.1. That better be the GPA of Harris managers since they’re gonna need a second job after a season invested in him.
- By only being started in 14% of leagues this past week, Trevor Lawrence only managed 0.04 FGW on his best week of the year. An 88% started number, like he had in Week 1, would have brought him up to 0.24 FGW for the week.
- The sad part here is it was still Lawrence’s best week of the year for FGW purposes, and it was when he was only started 14% of the time. His second best week has been his bye week.
I’m just happy it still isn’t Chubb.
- I keep blocking out the Garrett Wilson score. For those that don’t know, I’m a Jets fan, and I don’t know how I’m going to make it through Friday’s game.
- Cooper Kupp has been so good the last two years that he’s still the 4th ranked by FGW since the start of 2021.
- Joe Burrow threw a touchdown on the play he hurt his wrist, so he avoids the bottom slot.
- To clarify how scoring works – because Trevor Lawrence was only started 14% of the time, his score is himself for 14% and replacement players for 86%. That’s how he’s negative with 34 points scored in the week.
Serves us Right for Looking for Tips on Achane
I’m thankful for a lot this year…
I’m thankful that Fantasy Football is still fun for me in my 21st year playing the game. I’m thankful for Keenan Allen finally paying off for my dynasty team. I’m thankful for the Jets reminding me that no matter how bad things get, they can always get worse. And I’m thankful for all my readers. Please take these 55 Fantasy Football Tips as a token of my appreciation for sticking with me through all my disparaging comments about Remember the Titans. It’s been a privilege and an honor, good luck in Week 12, and have a happy Thanksgiving.
