LCD on left, OLED LE on right

LCD left, OLED LE right. OLED now has a ribbon cable attached to SSD shield. Be careful.

I am guessing this has been posted before but a few new / extra pictures never hurts. Received my OLED LE today and did a swap of the SSD from my LCD to the OLED. I just bought the LCD two months ago. A few observations/notes:

  1. OLED now has torx screws. All the screws holding on the outer shell are now the same size. On LCD the 4 corner screws were longer. Even the internals use torx screws now as well.
  2. There is a ribbon cable attached to the SSD shield now. You need to unplug it carefully to open the shield and remove/swap the SSD.
  3. OLED installed an update on first boot. The SSD swap from my old LCD was a success and it fired right up with everything installed etc.
  4. The matte/anti-glare screen is actually really nice. I bought screen protectors but may go without. The concerns about the anti-glare screen were blown way out of proportion.
  5. The new OLED model feels much lighter in the hand.
  6. The new, slightly larger thumb sticks on the OLED make a big difference. Feel much better than the LCD sticks.
  7. I really like the clear shell and orange accents on the LE. I wasn’t sure I’d love it, but it’s done nicely.
  8. Not sure what is different with the power button, but I feel it works better on the OLED. On my LCD I found myself always pressing it and not sure if it was going to turn on / off or not.

That’s all for now. Loving the upgrade! My 10 year old son is happy too, since he gets the LCD model.

Does opening this one up making it not feel as well put together when you put it back together? Felt that way with my LCD Steam Deck… wondering if I should risk it. Also is removing the outer casing as hard as it was with the LCD model… that one felt harder to split open than it should have been.
