I’m a Thunder fan, and I’ve been thinking about trade packages for Josh Giddey recently.

Josh Giddey is having a pretty bad season through 15 games, to put it mildly. He’s the clear odd man out now that Jalen Williams has become the clear tertiary playmaker next to Shai, and Chet’s on ball creation kind of renders Giddey’s playmaking as more of a luxury instead of a necessity, which would absolutely not be the case were he in San Antonio next to Wembanyama. Giddey is eligible to receive a rookie scale extension this offseason.

Jeremy Sochan is failing as a point guard, and there’s no arguing that. Tre Jones is an okay point guard, but Giddey is definitely on a whole different level and trajectory than Jones. Sure you can draft a PG and hope they develop next to Wemby, but point guards take a while to develop, which could temporarily stunt Wemby’s development.

So, the proposal is simple.

Oklahoma City receives: Jeremy Sochan

San Antonio receives: Josh Giddey

Genuinely curious on all of your thoughts on this.
