It’s a low bar but this is the best season since we won the Super Bowl.

I don’t expect our W/L record at the end of the season to be anything to get excited about, and we might still end up below 0.500. But this is the first time there have been some signs that we might be moving in the right direction. And we’re doing so with a comparatively weak roster after years of missing in drafts, poor FA signings and recently not having picks. So you would hope that the roster will only get stronger from here.

I am really really pleased with the hiring of Sean Payton. He has brought credibility and a sense of control and direction to the Broncos.

Also I know the fanbase is split on George Paton but personally I’m still in on him, despite the fact the Russ trade and contract has not really worked out. If you take out that one move (and we had to take some sort of swing), his draft picks have been pretty good. We have some good talent lower down the roster. It amuses me with hindsight that the one time I was really annoyed with Paton (and I wasn’t alone on this sub) was when he passed up on two QB prospects (Fields and Mac Jones) to take PS2. That hasn’t worked out so bad.

Paton isn’t a FA guy I think, which, Payton is mainly because he knows the player he wants for his system, which helps balance it all out hopefully. Also, in hindsight obviously, Paton nailed that Surtain pick because the only player you can really argue we should have taken is Micah. That’s how dogshit Chicago and New England have been to their QBs and have completely fucked up their developments 😂

Everyone always blames the team for fucking up the developments of the QB.

Fields shit - because Chicago didn’t develop him

Jones shit - because the Patriots didn’t develop him

Lock shit - because the Broncos didn’t develop him

Lance shit - because the 49ers didn’t develop him. But they managed to develop Purdy.
