He’s kind of not that good. At all. Literally every advanced stat supports this.

He’s an ultra inefficient ball stopper who’s an a below average defender and rebounder for his size. He’s a bad NBA athlete, and can’t beat defenders off the dribble. You can’t play him off the ball because he absolutely will destroy your spacing. It’s no coincidence that are best lineups in terms of net rating include Joe and not Giddey. I know it may not seem like it, as Giddey’s perception as a good player is very undeserved, but this is a classic case of addition by subtraction.

I’ve often wondered if his leash is only as long as it is because the draft capital we invested in him. Don’t have to worry about that nor the fans whitekniting for the bum anymore. The guy can’t score. He’s one of the least talented scorers at the guard position in all of the league, and I’m glad he made Presti’s decision that much easier in terms of an extension.

And you want to know something? Paying Josh Giddey anything north of $20,000,000 would’ve been a mistake. He saved us a future pick that we would’ve had to use to dump his salary eventually so uh… shout out to him.
