👋 Hey guys!

I hope you are well, I am looking for advice on my new startup idea.

I used to struggle with procrastination, until I started treating work like how I treat exercise.
The app uses Brain Steps to track how focused you are and fills up a productivity ring like on the apple watch.

  • 1 brain step = 1 minute of shallow work (like walking)
  • 4 brain steps = 1 minute of deep work (like running)
  • Aim to get 250 steps a day to close my productivity ring.
  • Over the month, see how many rings you closed and generate a streak

I am motivated by calculating my streak (currently on day 6) and seeing all of the closed rings in the month. It also allowed me to test different techniques and see which ones work better.

The next step is to use a non-invasive neurotech headband to track the brain steps reducing the amount of user inputs needed.

Is this something you would use? What issues do you see?

What’s the end game if I “win?” Does 250 brain steps = my brain is healthier and I will be able to (hopefully) remember where I put my keys in the morning? Like when I close my Apple rings I know I’ve met my exercise goals I’ve set for myself and that I am one more day (or 11,000 steps) closer to my end goal of losing 1 pound this week. Does that make sense? I would be more motivated to know that there was a “prize” at the end.

you could reach out to ADHD community and use them as beta testers.

IMO don’t go in this direction - non-invasive neurotech headband to track the brain steps - i’m not gonna wear a headband at work.
