I am 2/3 way there!

As you can see I have a thing for gold… it wasn’t on purpose. I simply buy the watches I fall in love with and cannot stop thinking about for an extended period of time.

However in a 3 watch collection, and extending it to a probable 5 watch collection I am interested in not too much overlap in use cases and my 2 first watches clearly share some warm/autumn vibes.

Aquired ✅

  • Rolex Rootbeer (2020)- the watch that got me into not just Rolex but I wasn’t interested in even watches before I fell in love with this watch at first sight. I travel with this watch, wear it around at home just because I love it. And use it during summer holidays or autumn as the colors makes it even prettier - $18,000
  • Seiko Red Alpinist Ivory Dial (1995) - My recent purchase, a vintage Seiko which is just stunning as hell. It’s the watch I wear around the small skitown I live in. On a tan leather strap of course. It reminds me of some kind of 90s after ski style - $1,000

Next steps 👀?

  • Patek 5060j (1997) - My next ‘grail’ is the first Aquanaut and which didn’t have the name Aquanaut when it came out. It is absolutely gorgeous and, luckily for me, even though it was only made in 1,000 copies it’s yellow gold, not well-known and is usually listed for way less than modern steel models. There is a lot of history to it, only ever around 5 listings for these at a time and bound to become sought after one day. It gives me this old-world feeling and I’ll probably wear it at a bar with a black leather jacket, at cocktail attire lounges with a black suit and as a dress watch. Not Aquired ❌ - more or less $50,000 with box and papers.
  • My AD is trying to get me a 36mm Oyster Perpetual turquoise dial which I may or may not sell so I can buy the yellow dial Oyster Perpetual which is the one I really want. It would be my first all-steel with bracelet watch and there’s no gold but the dial is yellow and might follow the theme a little bit. However, one thing I’ve realized is that there are few things as subjective as taste in watches.
  • Lange 1 Daymatik in platinum - Close enough to the Lange I really want which is just not attainable at over $100,000k and up. Its appeal speaks for itself and could be a piece to balance out my gold/yellowness of the rest of the collection. Could be worn daily, both clean and stunning yet understated, but also great dresswatch.
