I got my limited edition OLED Steam Deck yesterday evening, and I’m encountering some new problems.

When I boot it while docked (official Valve dock), it doesn’t start. It will take a couple of moments and a couple more power button presses to get it going. At that time, it acts like it’s waking up and has been powered all along. Sometimes the fan kicks in ultra loud (louder than I’ve ever heard on a Steam Deck) for about 10-15 seconds before quieting down.

Afterward, it still doesn’t always display on the external monitor. But when it does, gameplay and functionality is fine.

Has anyone encountered this? Could it be my dock? Can the dock be reset (firmware)? Any help on this would be appreciated. Thank you!

P.S. I remember seeing the OLED has a feature to start the system through a bluetooth controller, much like a home console. I have not found that functionality on this OLED. Is that feature just not here yet?

What dock do you have steam or jsaux?

On valves dock i believe you may need tom update the firmware (someone else reported this).

On jsaux - i had terrible issues with monitor compatibility so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

had this very issue with oled deck after updating the dock (newest update), was fine before. gone back to using an unnoficial dock (3d printed home made) that i used before the official dock was released.

no issues with that at all, official dock is a pile of crap, its been fussy since day 1 whether it wants to display or not, sometimes needs multiple plug ins to get it to display, i give up with it… only bought it originally so i could use the display port, not worth the bloody hassle.

Amen. I am not about to buy a new monitor or anything like that just because the Valve dock suddenly stopped working with it. It’s comforting to know that I’m not alone on this. The official dock leaves a lot to be desired, and does often take multiple plug-in attempts to get it to display anything.
