I’m trying to learn Vlad mid and I’m struggling with casting his R at or near max range
I hate the outdated AOE ability casting on Vlad ultimate
On a recent champ like Seraphine (not even super recent) when when you cast a location targeting AOE ability like her Q past max range, it just immediately casts the ability in that direction at max range and that is the norm casting mechanic for all modern champs but Riot still hasn’t brought all the older champs up to the same standard and it just feels so bad to play older champs like Vlad when using his R and Cassiopeia when using her Q because it doesn’t function the same way
When you cast them at max range and they are barely out of range then it doesn’t cast at max range and instead moves you closer to the enemy and not even casting when you want to cast it gets me killed so much
I feel like it should be a bigger issue for riot when it comes to bringing up older champions to newer base function mechanics of the game
All the new champs launch with the ability to cast at max possible range when you cast their ability past their max range
I wish they would bring old champs up to this current standard so badly
It’s frustrating to deal with when learning an older champ
There are so many times I activate ghost on Vlad when I’m about to all in with my R and I try to use R at max range but my cursor is barely past where max range is so I all in and I realize too late that my R didn’t even go off cause I accidentally moved my cursor barely out of max range and because I’m hitting other abilities and putting in new movement commands with my mouse clicking the R ends up getting completely canceled instead of just casting at max range like a newer champs AOE ability would do
And like, I’ve seen them slowly… SLOWLY… updating old champs to the new standard but I just feel like this should be a bigger priority considering it causes a whole slew of issues, especially for players trying out older champs
Like, my R isn’t going off when I want it too, that feels like a major game issue to me because it gets me killed and doesn’t let me do my job of killing the enemy (or at least hurting them before I inevitably die) and that feels like it’s a basic game mechanic that not every champ is capable of doing in the same fashion
Is anyone else having problems with this issue? I know I’m probably going to be told it’s a skill issue and I just need to keep practicing it but it feels terrible having to relearn the base games casting rules just because I want to use an older champ.
And Vlad isn’t the only one with this issue, I keep having the worst time trying to use Cassiopeia Q when I’m trying to use a lot of movement in a bunch of different directions trying to dodge enemy abilities and step in and out of an ADC attack range while staying within my max casting range of her Q so that I can follow up with her E if I hit Q. But I’ll try to use her Q at max range and then nothing will happen because I expected it to cast at max range when I use it pastax range but instead of moves me closer than I want to be and then my Q gets cancelled by inputting another ability or movement so it doesn’t even go off
It makes the cast more accurate though.
