Started setting up my new OLED steamdeck and was about to start transferring roms but it won’t recognize my flash drive at all. I’ve used this 256gb Samsung flash drive successfully on my LCD model. I reformatted the flash drive on my windows pc and tried again but it’s still not visible on my OLED model but it will work flawlessly on the LCD.
Is there something simple I’m missing here? I can get other usb drives using a usb-c hub to work just fine.
Make sure you update to 3.5.7 as that should fix it.
I’ve been on 3.5.7 and still having the issue.
Do you have a hub you can try? That was the only way I could get my USB drives to be recognized prior to the 3.5.7 update, so maybe that’ll work for you…
The other thing I saw being suggested was to not the deck into the bios, go into Advanced>USB Configuration and change the USB Dual Role Device setting from DRD to XHCI. I’m not sure what other impact this might have long term though.
I only have an oled model but trouble mounting USB flash drive. I went into some settings and set some automount settings (dont remember exactly which ones) but after that it showed up when attaching the usb drive. Could not test further because i had to go to work…
I wouldn’t call it a solution but I saw a comment on the steam forums that suggested restarting or turning off/on the steam deck with the flash drive plugged in. I can confirm after testing this twice that my flash drive was recognized and I was able to “mount and open”. Of course the moment I take it out and plug it back in then the steam deck goes back to not being able to see it all.
Hopefully this confirms that this really is software related and will get patched soon. For now this band aid helps with what I’m trying to accomplish.
