Even though we’re in a weird spot pick and age-wise, it feels like some kind of move would need to be made to keep our players happy?

We got players like CamJ and Mikal in their primes and roleplayers like Royce and DFS in the beginning of their 30’s.

It seems like they want to compete at some level and while Ben is the big question mark it feels like we’re just wasting time here, also not owning our picks for the next few years.

I think DFS is easily the most valuable veteran on our roster. I would hold onto him and see how many contending teams around the time of the trade deadline want a 3&D veteran who can be on the court at the end of a play-off game.

I’m not so sure we can get a first round pick for Royce or Dinwiddie but we might be able to get a young player. For example the Lakers drafted Jalen Hood-Schifino at 17th in the 2023 draft. The Lakers with LeBron and AD are in win-now mode so I could see them move JH-S in a trade for a veteran who can contribute in the play-offs.

If Dallas are winning I wonder whether they might come back for Dinwiddie or DFS. In the 2023 draft the Mavericks selected Olivier-Maxence Prosper at number 24. He’s a 6ft7in SF/PF from Canada.

I think both would definitely be worth taking a punt on in exchange for our 30 year olds who will both be wanting new contracts in the summer. They’re too old for our rebuild.

Lonnie Walker will be in demand if he continues this level of play and could become a hired-gun for a play-off team needing off-the bench scoring. If we could get a first round pick for him then Sean Marks should cash in on him.
