I’m an old Lions fan. I met Eric Hipple (QB) at the Silverdome when I was in second grade. Our hero was Doug English (NT). The neighborhood kids and I used to pretend we were Billy Sims as we jumped over snow piles.

I’ve gone through a lot of ups and downs over the past 45 years of Lions fandom, and I’ve arrived at this point: I only get mad after a Lions loss in three circumstances.

  1. We get jobbed by the refs. See Samkon Gado, Leigh Bodden, Justin Tucker, Aaron Rodgers fake facemask

  2. We quit. See 2006 thanksgiving game against Falcons

  3. We do something stupid. See Morningwheg taking the wind, or Millen drafting BMW

What I saw yesterday was the defense continuing to play hard and with energy. I give them credit. They have subpar talent. We were the 31st defense last year, and did not draft any top tier help at pass rush or cornerback. They fought hard. I am not upset. This team is making improvements, no question.

I’ll say this till I’m blue in the face. Mornhinwig taking the wind was a good call. Accepting the penalty on 3rd down instead of forcing a long fg (45+ if I remember) was the bad call.
