I’ve tried a couple sleeves/cases, some thumb caps, the stick on pads for L/R 4/5, and I always end up removing them because I actually prefer the feel of the plain Steam Deck. Anyone else have this happen where whatever they slide or stick onto their Deck makes it feel “wrong”?

I feel I can hold it better in my hands with the jsaux case. Other than that I haven’t tried any accessories. Except a screen protector of course

Screen protector is the only thing I put on my Steamdeck because I know I’d be gutted if I got any scratches no matter how tiny or insignificant. Other than that yeah I just keep it bare. Most cases are fugly anyway

I managed to get a tiny scratch right in the middle of my LCD Deck by being too lazy to grab a cloth and wiping the Deck’s screen with a plush seal lol.

It’s a small scratch, but once you notice it, it’s hard to ignore. A screen protector went on my OLED day 1.

Not to be a bother, but I ordered the OLED, as my first deck, I know the screen is bigger than the original deck, but from my understanding it’s a shorter bezel, does a regular lcd deck screen protector fit on the OLED ?

It’s the same footprint, only the bezel had shrunk to make way for more screen, so any screen protector built for the LCD Deck should fit the OLED. The JSAUX ones I bought make no reference to the OLED but fits the entire screen, bezel to bezel.

15 years ago I would of been fine with a Deck sticking out of my oversized pants pocket, whipped out here and there to get quick gaming on its tiny screen. But my eyes are starting to slip and my monitors have gotten bigger and bigger over time. My favorite accessory to date has been my xreal air pro AR glasses. 200 inch screen in front of my eyeballs, deck in my hands. epic.

Me. I have little tactile pads on the STEAM and … buttons, but that’s it.

I don’t see the need for any accessories.

It’s ergonomic, any case is going to make it heavier without adding ergonomics.

Perhaps the JSAUX backplate because improved cooling? The OLED model addressed this and I upgraded.

I see the appeal in vinyl skins but I have the LE OLED now so I don’t want to hide it.

I don’t think the deck needs a screen protector.

Not sure if any other accessories make sense to me. I have a JSAUX and official docking station. Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

I don’t have nothing but the box it came in, and the inserts, the cord that came with it, and the carrying case that also came with it.

I haven’t tried any third party accessories for mine, but I did just purchase an anti glare screen protector. I’ve seen a few pictures and it just looks that much better

I’ve used the rubber back buttons on both my Deck’s, I think they make hitting them substantially better.

The only other accessory I bothered with (if this counts) are these small rubber bands that go around the stem of the thumb sticks to prevent the sticks grinding against the shell of the case. On my LCD Deck they were grinding really badly, accumulating a lot of plastic residue, and ultimately made moving the sticks feel pretty naff. Time will tell if I need to chuck them on the OLED model.

Otherwise, yes, I don’t see the point in most accessories. I’ve never put on third party thumbcaps and thought they felt even remotely better than stock.

The only one I find a necessity was the stickers for the trackpads. On the og deck you could easily fuck up the look if it with general use. At least they are replaceable
