I still to this day thinks that this novel surpassed The Hunger Games and 1984 in terms of dystopian genre.

The novel itself potrayed a lot of symbolism to our current modern world uniquely and more stronger than the other books.

Why isn’t it being discuss in the same level as hunger games or 1984? I’ve seen countless memes about 1984 than I do for the Brave New World.

It’s pretty well known. BNW, 1984, and Fahrenheit 451 are often cited as the three best classic dystopian novels. 1984 is the most well known of the three, perhaps because it was a not-so-subtle critique of Stalinism, and therefore originally had the most connection to then-current events. However, for that same reason it now seems the most dated, since Stalinism has been thoroughly discredited even in Russia.

I think the nature of Brave New World is a bit harder to quickly refer to than 1984. People use 1984 as a catchall for surveillance state, even if they haven’t read it. BNW focuses more on the industrial state and spiritual poverty IIRC. Most people can sympathize with the lack of freedom in 1984, but BNW is a bit more complicated (and honestly probably more relevant, I should reread it). Honestly, I feel like a lot of people would look at soma vacations and think that the BNW dystopia isn’t all that bad.

but it is well known, it is always talked about and used as a reference in the dystopian genre, I read it when I was around 14/15 years old, and even nowadays I always see comments and people reading it

It is…in high school it and 1984 are often taught one after the other. Not your experience I take it?

It could be that Fahrenheit 451 is the easiest for people in school to read and understand. brave new world has more philosophical debate parts, shakespeare references, and the ambiguous and confusing speaking scene with the characters towards the beginning while they’re being introduced. It might be the smartest of the 3 main dystopian books which means many people wont get of like it. 1984 does have the 2+2 part though.

1984 wasn’t assigned in school for me and brave new world was…so idk. Maybe the totalitarianism in 1984 is just easier/more one sided for people to give opinions about. It’s easier to denounce the party’s actions.
