I had this same exact dilemma. Until I test drove a 4 series. It felt like a massive tank coming from a 2016 m235i.

When I asked about it before, people mostly said they got the 440 for the slightly larger backseat. People wanted an easier time getting things like a car seat in the back.

If you don’t need the space, I would go with the 2 series and either save money on used or get a new one.
