Greetings Steeler fans. Bears fan here.

I was told to come here by Bears fans, since I posted on our sub that with our roster as is, Coach Tomlin would have us at a minimum 6-5.

I don’t know if Coach T calls plays, but based on the recent firing of Matt Canada (anyone think that dude should have been a hockey coach???), I think the offensive play calling & game-plans are subject to the OC, therefore it is possible we still have Luke Getsy as our OC.

Coach Tomlin is probably my favorite NFL HC. I especially like how he was able to moonlight on the TV show House early in his career. Haha, JK. But I really do like how you guys are constantly winning, competing for division titles, making the playoffs. It just feels like, from afar, that he is top tier HC talent. As in, top 5.

Also, what do you think your offense would look like if Justin Fields was your QB instead of Pickett?

Cheers. Thanks.

Tomlin has the respect of the majority of the players and they play hard. I kind of feel like Tomlin has this complex where he has to feel like he’s the smartest guy in the room. Hence the reason he’s had such terrible coordinators. His coaching tree is basically all trunk and no branches. I don’t think he is great at in-game decisions like when to challenge plays and time out usage. I don’t think he is a great disciplinarian. I think he let’s too much stuff slide. The Steelers commit the dumbest penalties! Things like taunting and all the celebration penalties before the NFL started allowing them. I also hated how he didn’t put a stop to Juju doing pregame TikTok dances on the field. He’s allowed a culture where some guys are more worried about their brand than they are about winning. I do like the fact that he insulates the players from the media and really doesn’t throw guys under the bus. That’s a huge reason why he is loved in the locker room.

Tomlin is a floor raiser. So yes he would likely have your team performing better than it is currently but that’s not saying much because the Bears are a 3 win team. On the flip side however I don’t think he would win you a Super Bowl. The Bears would never give Tomlin the level of leeway and stability necessary for him to run the team successfully for a long time. The other part is Chicago is not great drafting and while Pittsburgh isn’t great these past few seasons we have enough hits for Tomlin to work with so we’re not complete ass.

I think our offense would look the same, maybe marginally better overall. Fields has better highs than Pickett and the rushing ability but his floor and regular games aren’t that different from Picketts. In addition he has a turnover problem which is a big no-no with our current team. He also struggles with the same things which is accuracy, reading the field, and pocket presence. Fields just has the physical talent to make more highlight plays out of nothing than Kenny.

Tomlin Struggles against the better teams, see the pats rolling us every year. However, he allows the roster to be grater then the sum of all its parts. I think with the bears roster he would get them 8-9 wins this year.

I mean you guys this year have lost 4 one score games with your (apparently) shitty head coach. You really could be 7-4 had a few things gone your way, I don’t think it would wild to assume a better coach would win a few of those.

The biggest thing Tomlin does is keep his locker room. It sounds simple, but coaches lose their locker room entirely or have an offense v defense split all the time. We have had great offense and suspect d and great defense and suspect o, but he always always kept the team together. Players like him and want to win for him.

Tomlin is an excellent coach. Period. There’s a reason we have a winning record right now and it sure asf isn’t Kenny Pickett, despite him being the best QB in the nfl (/s).

I like Fields and while I’m certainly biased as an OSU fan I think he would do much better in pretty much any other program. That said, I can’t really be sure how much better he’d do in Pittsburgh. I think a terrible (but improving!) o line and Matt Canada Scheme™ is an awful way for any young qb to develop and kind of screws them from the start, which is what I believe happened to fields. In Pittsburgh the same would happen IMO but maybe not quite as bad as Chicago.

You can damn sure have him, we are winning these games with the best defensive player in the league, several other stud defensive players, turnovers and some good old fashioned lucky breaks. Tomlin and the offense haven’t been the reason although the media and some of our fans will give Tomlins bum ass all the credit and zero blame.

I mean if you want to be constantly mid, lose games you should have won handily, and be under prepared in general, sure you can have em.
