Tips on opening rusted hood latch?

Hi. The hood latch on my beater 05 Toyota Corolla is rusted and as a result I can’t open the hood. Car has been sitting for a year. I need to change the dead battery.

The hood latch was rusting and I never addressed it. I used to put grease(vaseline and anti seize) as a temporary solution. It worked and I was able to open the hood a year ago. Now I can’t
