Pretty sure he’s gone because the ownership group is going to demand some major changes after 2 straight years of last place football. They usually hold onto the GM over the coach, especially if the GM didn’t hire the coach or choose the QB.

I am confident that Poles wants to keep Eberflus. He built this team along side of him – and if Flus goes a lot of work we have done to construct this team has been wasted and the rebuild is going to take much longer. Like right now the team is built to run the 4-3 defense. What if a new coach does not want to do that? It means we gave away Roquan for nothing.

Still, if we don’t start winning games a change will have to be made. Poles can’t have the worst team in the league for 2 straight years and then run it back again. He may as well set his own chair on fire.

I think if Poles decides to keep him, then I think they’ll both end up getting fired. Eberflus will most likely be the fall guy, especially if they lose out, no matter how well Fields plays. I think they blast it all up even if they lose out but Fields plays well. Fields will get traded to the Falcons or Ravens, the coaching staff will be gone, and Poles will draft a QB and or a WR or trade one of those picks for a haul. I think he’ll address the coaching situation first before he decides on the draft picks, of course. But yeah he needs to fire Flus or they’ll both be gone

The Bears are a conservative organization. They have a new GM and a new President. Poles knew from the get go that this was a complete tear down and rebuild. He probably said as much to Eberflus when he was hired. In general coaches are usually given 3 years to turn an organization around, though that’s becoming less of a norm than it was 15-20 years ago.

So, yeah, there’s a dozen reasons to think Eberflus will be back for year 3. It will all come down to whether Poles thinks Eberflus has been irredeemably bad as an HC or not. We can point at a handful of outwardly apparent red flags, but we don’t know if there are mitigating circumstances.

I think he’s gone, but it’s absolutely in doubt.

Until the Lions game, I thought there was a very good chance he stayed.

    Now I think it’s 50/50

He’s 0-9 against the division so far in two seasons. There’s three division games left. Packers have been playing better football as the season has gone on, and the Vikings won’t be easy even with Cousins out. The Lions? Who knows.

But one or two wins (at best) in the division in two seasons, should get any coach fired. You can’t go anywhere unless you can beat your division opponents

I thought the team and Eberflus improved after the Denver collapse and he’d be back with Fields for year 3. But, after the Detroit collapse, I am convinced they all have to go. I think they retain Poles. They try to trade Fields. They draft a QB and MHJ in 1st round. DLine, OLine, Secondary with remaining picks. And rebuild continues with upgraded coaching staff. I don’t think Kevin Warren will allow Poles to run it back or stick a new HC with Fields. Shit, Warren may even convince them to fire Poles at this point.

Sadly, I having a feeling that he’s our coach next season. Despite everything that he has done(and not done…like win) he will still be here. Fuck that guy.
