Alright so kef r3s are the most abundant. I rarely see r2 or r6 for sale. Has anyone done a side by side or better yet owned 2 of above? The r6 has a huge price premium that I can quite figure out or justify. I’m mostly curious about how r3s compare to r2s sonically. If you own any of them what made you go with them? If you’ve bought used (unsure if i will) anything specific I should look for?
Sounds like you’re trying to compare the R2, R3, and R6 - but the R3 are bookshelves and the others are center channels. Can you elaborate more if you’re trying to compare all three or just the center channels.
Maybe I’m being naive but the r2 and r6 can be used as centers but they are lcr monitors no?last picture of the r2s for example
Oh I wasn’t aware they’re advertising the R2 and R6 as being used for LCR. I’ve heard many tweeter/woofer designed speakers can vary a lot in frequency response when rotated 90 degrees. Maybe the KEF UNI-Q driver avoids this with it’s concentric and waveguide design.
Either way, my recommendation would be to go with the R3s and use the extra money you would’ve spent on R2/R6 and put that money towards 1 or 2 subwoofers. All of these will greatly benefit from using a subwoofer, so if you’re getting a subwoofer anyway, might as well go with the R3.
