So I was born in Baltimore and lived there for two years of my life. Due to this and my father who lived in Baltimore for over 30 years made me a die hard orioles and Ravens fan. I have lived outside of philly for the rest of my entire life. As I’m getting into the NBA more over the past year and a half, I’ve been rooting for the sixers, including this year. My friend is telling me since I’m a Baltimore fan I should root for the wizards and since I wasn’t there during the process, but since my dad was not a basketball fan I only really feel passion for the sixers. So I’ll ask this subreddit am I allowed to be a sixers fan or should I root for the wizards since I’m an eagles or Phillies fan? I think i should be “allowed” to root for the sixers.
For the record he thinks it’s fine if I root for the flyers and it’ll be okay for the sixers down the line - it’s just that because the sixers are only good right now because of the process, and I didn’t have to endure the process, it feels a little fake and unearned
Little known secret, you can like both of them
I’d like you better if you root for the sixers
I’m a ravens and orioles fan who roots for the Sixers. You can be a fan of whatever team you want for whatever reason you want. There isn’t an application.
My general approach to life is i should do whatever my friends tell them to do rather than what I want to do. That way I have no regrets
