I’m starting a personal project that involves make a vlog just talking about what my life is like and what I’m up to so I can rewatch it in a few years or show my kids what my life was like when I was younger. I would plan to do these vlogs maybe once a month or so and want to be able to copy it over to an external drive and forget about it the rest of the time. I would prefer not to use cloud storage services. Any recommendations for this use case?

    M-Disc

M-DISC’s design is intended to provide archival media longevity. M-Disc claims that properly stored M-DISC DVD recordings will last up to 1000 years.

If you want long-term reliability, you don’t want spinning rust.
