Mojang is favoring the realistic approach now when they develop Minecraft, and it could hurt the game, because it’s these illogical things that make Minecraft unique.
I don’t want Minecraft to be simply a game where you build and destroy, with a couple of mobs and structures, I want it to be a game that has odd and unique things in it that make it feel like “Minecraft”.
Putting lava in a bucket and carrying it around, is that logical? No, but not here. Sliverfish that are huge and attack in swarms, is that accurate? No, but it’s an interesting approach. Trying to tame wild animals with food, is that safe? No, but your not supposed to do it in real life.
It was because of these odd things that made Minecraft feel different, that it made it feel special.
Mojang needs to understand that its not their fault if some kid tries to punch solid wood, or if they try to feed a frog fireflies, they are supposed to taught to not reenact things they see in video games, just like with shows and books.
I don’t want Minecraft to become a game that is simply blocks and monsters, i want it to have illogical and silly ways of doing things. Because that’s what made Minecraft. And Minecraft is weird, in a good way.
I love this new realistic direction, I screamed in delight when Mojang announced they were adding the deep dark city to mine raft because I actually live there in real life!!! And cause of last update I can finally have my childhood pet sniffer in the game too!
That’s true, I- wait sniffers are real
They refuse to put crocodiles and sharks in the game because hostile mobs must be fake. But aren’t they basically teaching us that if we walk up to a polar bear it’ll only attack if it has babies nearby? Polar bears one of the few animals that actively hunt humans.
What are the realistic things you’re talking about?
