I made up my mind

NBA is a young mans league and you’re not going to win anymore by stacking up former-superstars and letting them play ISO for 48 minutes one by one

Off-ball movement is non-existent and this team has no players who could help remediate that. Roster full of “stars” and just a couple solid role-players who have to play in the shadow of guys who still ride high on whatever they were in their 20s

This organisation once had a rebuild plan where the main idea was “we are rebuilding while trying to be a winning team” - and that gave us the best era of Clippers basketball and a rookie who’s now on pace to be an MVP candidate and a face of a franchise.

The plan was going great - but as Steve Ballmer admitted - we had to skip some steps because Kawhi Leonard became available earlier than expected. And with this move we lost Shai and all the picks needed to follow the plan. Ever since then this front office has been STRUGGLING to make a coherent roster. Each year making rushed moves in hopes that they finally fix our flaws. We had Rondo, we had Wall, we had Rodney McGrouder playing 18mpg, we had Marcus Morris being overpaid and treated like he still deserves that money, we tried to put random players with a limited skillset on the roster just because we were missing that something.

Going for Kawhi and PG was the right move at that moment. But google a term: Sunk Cost Fallacy. Steve Ballmer knows it to well he’s a businessman. We spent a lot on what we have right now. But it’s not working and we are just going to lose more if we’re stubborn in trying to make it work.

We are still going to be a play-in team - so what would you rather have:

- a team with an average age of 33 with 4 ISO players who need the ball in their hand while rest of the team stays in place with no movement? No cap space to make right moves? No picks to at least make our play-in position in the league less painful? or…

- have a young team full of fight with one young star (or more) building his legacy with us, cap space to actually sign players that fit the team and picks to look forward in the future?

I know what I’d chose…
