It was before my time as a Suns fan, help a brother out.
What was the general feeling of the fan base at picking DA as first pick? Was there much hype behind him? Were people happy?
Was there anyone that the fans were hoping for instead? Looking back, it’s a crazy strong year with at least 3/4 other players that would have been good selections.
Thanks!
I love the Arizona Wildcats every bit as much as I love the Phoenix Suns and I’ll never knock the pick.
The idea of watching that soft ass cream puff bitch at the refs after every non-whistle lay up in a Suns uniform is repulsive.
People were very dug in on Ayton. You were allowed to meekly suggest that maybe it would be cool to draft Luka, but any criticism of Ayton was met with downvotes. Pointing out that he was one of the worst defenders for a center I’ve ever seen, or that he had no handle, or that he “just wanted to make it to that second contract” were all seen as hating, and I was ridiculed for thinking I was smarter than ESPN’s big board.
Appreciate all the responses, thanks everyone!
I can absolutely see why DA would be picked given the need for a centre, his build and being essentially a local.
I also agree with AbsoluteScott, Luka might be a great player but he’s a prick 😂
DA was the obvious pick. Dominated in college, went to HS in Phx, college at UofA. It was really not a debate.
There was as much hype as there is disappointment now
