I used to be able to load up cod, battlefield, GTA, or any of the plethora of battle royale games and have hours of fun for one session. Only thing that made us get off was the time of day (night, rather) and all that time felt like a fraction of what it actually was…

Now when I play any new online games or some of the older multiplayer games, it’s either not as fun or it’s just full of people that are extremely good, far better than the average or returning player, decimating everyone that is not at equal skill.

I find that new games struggle to keep me playing for the sheer gameplay alone, it was always the battlepasses that kept you coming back because if you don’t complete it, you’re essentially throwing money at these studios for nothing. The last game I played that got me on gameplay and story alone was apex legends, but now I barely know the new characters where all of the older characters you sort of got to learn who they were as the game developed. Now I feel burned out from the game, which makes me sad because I actually really liked it

It sounds like you’re just aging and not processing it well.
