I understand the NFL and CFB are not 1:1 and probably shouldn’t be compared in that way, but we should all take a moment to remember what Kenny did in 2021 (in 13 games) for Pitt:

4319 Passing Yards (332 per game) 42 Passing TDs (3.23 per game) 7 INTs

Give this guy a little more time to adjust and find himself in the NFL game and he could be great. His 2023 stats are mediocre to say the least, but poor play calling and scheming by Matt Canada (as well as a terrible offensive playbook) could have a lot to do with it.

The fact that the Steelers haven’t fired a coach mid season since the 40s is a marker that tells the whole story from Tomlin’s perspective. One of the greatest coaches ever. That perspective is - IT WAS MATT CANADA, NOT KENNY! Tomlin could have easily benched KP, and I’m sure he’s not making these decisions based on gut instincts. Every professional sports organization has analytics informing every decision. I guarantee this was an analytical decision and the right one.

Kenny will slowly get better this year with better play calling and more freedom, and next year will breakout with a new playbook.

Kenny was literally just a guy at Pitt. He then had the best wr in cfb and rode him like a donkey in the worst p5 conference. He had gone back to being just a guy.

I’m excited to see what could happen if we open the offense up some. Let’s take some shots and scheme better for our personnel

I don’t think Kenny gets better this year, and I mean this year only. Sullivan’s history of calling plays…well let’s say it leaves a lot to be desired, his two years in Tampa Bay his offenses were 12th and 31st in scoring. 'In New York, it was even more horrid clocking in at 26th and 32nd in scoring.

I’m hoping they go outside the organization for the next OC and maybe they can fix Pickett in 24.

We should have been seeing growing pains with a good playbook. That’s normal. But when your playcalling is a held back 5th grader playing Madden wtf do you expect.

The theme of this year was to babysit and invest in Kenny with at minimum a league acceptable offensive system so he could learn and grow. We just fucked around so hard and confused him and his confidence. If Kenny is trash in year 3 after all of this then you move on. I am so glad Canada is gone he was extremely dangerous to so much of our young potential.

I wonder if it’d be worth looking into his college OC as a viable replacement.

IT WAS MATT CANADA, NOT KENNY!

One of the biggest mistakes we make as humans is making joint constructs binary. Canada was awful but KP has shown a remedial grasp of reads, and pocket presence with iffy accuracy. Canning Canada won’t fix that.

We never should have drafted a Pitt QB. People defend his bad play way too much. Kenny stinks.

If college stats meant anything in the NFL there’d be way more hall of fame QBs and less busts as QB. I don’t give a crap what Kenny did in college. This is the NFL which means Not For Long when you play like him.

I don’t think it’s as simple as it was all Canada and not Kenny. It’s way easier to get rid of your offensive coordinator than benching your QB who still has 2 more years left on his contract.

The offense would be the same under Canada no matter who was playing qb.

Canada should have never worked with Kenny, we already knew he was a problem.

    • No 400+ yard games by any of the offenses under Canada
    • KP has the highest aggressiveness percentage of any QB in the league, which means his WRs aren’t getting open.
    • Lowest xCOMP (Expected Completion Percentage), meaning he’s had the highest level of difficulty of any QB related to passing.
