So yesterday my Anker 100W charger died on the second use, so I bought another one, this time by Teknet (also 100W) which arrived today. Straight out of the box I plug it into my FW 13 and got nothing. Tried it on my phone, still nothing.
I made a post yesterday asking if I could use a 20W iPhone charger temporarily as long as I wasn’t using the laptop at the time. I’m doing that and it’s working, so I’m confident the laptop is ok.
Are chargers from Amazon just bad? Is this just a coincidence that I’ve had two broken ones so close together? Or is destiny trying to prevent me using my new laptop?
Buy from reputable brands, make sure they supply the full wattage to a single USB-C port if it has multiple ports.
If they fail, it may just be a defective unit. Hopefully if you exchange it, the second will be good.
I like my ugreen 100w chargers. Use them on my fw and plenty of other devices, never have an issue for several months now
I can’t see how a charger can fail because of what it’s charging, especially if it has plenty of headroom (a Framework 13 is designed for a 65W charger). More likely to fail because it’s either a lemon or the electrical outlet is bad in some way, so I call bad luck on the Anker and perhaps predictable luck on the rando brand.
@PsychologicalDrone What cable are you using? If 1 cable links all these failures, try a good quality cable.
Also beware of fake goods on Amazon–I’ve had more success with small town independent sellers on Ebay.
I use this cable

with this charger at work.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285539262957At home I use official Framework charger, which came with EU mains plug, with a standard C5 (also known as ‘cloverleaf’) cable that has a UK plug.
@PsychologicalDrone n.b. For those who like to use official Framework kit, they’ve announced a charger with the UK cable “coming soon”.
I am using a 65W and a 100W chargers and I’ve got no problem with either.
