Music or movie, what do you first reach for when showing someone what you’ve sunk all your money into?

With my Sennheiser HD800s, I’d always start with Everything In It’s Right Place (Radiohead).

To everyone saying “ask what they want to hear” there’s a level of truth to that, but there’s also a reason every TV store has demo reels purposely put together to showcase the TV’s strengths. OLED TV’s are going to show a lot of dark/black scenes. If someone watches The Office on an OLED they’re not going to see it’s full capabilities. Sometimes what people want to see/hear may not show the full potential of the equipment. If the goal is to ‘show off’ it makes sense to show what the equipment does best, even if the person is unfamiliar with it.

Hardly much in that song other than a pretentious chorus. Try something by Boris Blank.

    TOOL - Chocolate Chip Trip

It dances around the room well beyond the speakers

But that’s after I let them throw on their own music for like an hour.

If I want them to truly listen, I like to play something they’ve never heard before. It puts the mind in a different, more open place (as opposed to listening to something they’re familiar with that comes with certain expectations)

Mostly would like to play what the listener wants to hear and at some point play (amongst others):

    O-Zone Percussion Group, Jazz Variants

    Submotion Orchestra, Kites

I use to let people hear their favorites, but reality is most popular music is crap so after I play some selected tracks they can hear their favorites and realize how bad it sounds.

    Ben Harper-Burn one down

Bella Fleck- flight of the cosmic hippos

    Keb Mo- am i wrong

    The The- August & September

    Pink FLoyd- Sorrow, time, breathe

Paul Simon- diamonds on the soles of her feet

Dead Can dance- The ubiquitous mr lovegroove

    lincoln Mayorga- Camarillo

    Tool-Pneuma

    Dave Brubeck- unsquare dance

    Marcin-kashmir

    Rodrigo Y Gabriella-FOC
