I see everyone getting super excited about Miami being 8-3 and in the hunt for the 1 seed which is great and all, but how about termpering expectations? Still 6 important games to go. And then the playoffs.

We were in literally this exact same position last year. 8-3 and controlling our own destiny for the division. The game @ SF was considered to be a potential “super bowl preview” by the media.

And then December happened. 5 embarrassing losses in a row. We were a disgusting fluke 11-6 win against Joe Flacco’s rotting corpse away from having one of the most monumental late-season collapses in history. You can say it’s different this year, the schedule down the stretch is easier, yada yada. But we also just saw this team barely pull off a home win against a Raiders team with Aidan O’Connell and an interim HC. Is that Raiders team really better than the Commies and Titans? If they are, it’s not by much. This is the pros and wins usually don’t come easy, even against the “bad” teams. And what if Tua or Tyreek gets injured?

All this to say, this team still hasn’t proven shit. Shit can still hit the fan down the stretch. Still 0 playoff wins since 9/11. Still no division title since the wildcat year. Still no AFCCG appearance since Bush Sr.'s presidency. So as someone who’s watched this team be perpetually mediocre for a verh long time, I’ll believe it when I see it. Until then, I’m still holding my breath. So I don’t wanna see fans being obnoxious and acting like the phins deserve to be talked about like the Eagles, Chiefs, 49ers, etc.

Fuck that. I’m excited for the Dolphins. Whether I’m excited or not has no bearing on what happens on the field, so I might as well be happy and ride the good times.
