This year I managed to complete this fine trinity with the addition of the Longines. I feel these three watches represent the best in GADA field watches.

The Hamilton Khaki field/King series is maybe the best value in automatic watches in the world right now IMO. Saphire crystal and an ETA based H10 movement that is currently (at 6 years old) running +1 second a day. You can still buy these used for just over what a new ETA 2824-2 movement would cost, $270.

The Sinn just steps it up from there. Anti reflective coating that has yet to chip or scratch, a screw down that gives in proper water resistance, and a dial that is like a mesmerizing black void. It is blacker than any other black you compare it to.

The Longines Spirit, to me, is the ultimate luxury field watch. Yes, IWC has more historicaly relevant pilot style watches, but they cost twice as much and I don’t think they are technically twice as good. I bought this Spirit 40mm for $1,500 used, and it’s a finely finished, highly legible, cosc certified pilot watch, with a screw down crown and proper water resistance. I’m not sure where you can get all that for less in a watch that has a traditional asthetic like this.
