It’s prob not gonna have the crazy success all the time, but it’s another HUGE tool for us, and it’s very impressive it was so successful the first time out. The more counters and counters to counters we have, the harder we are to game plan for.

Only Jaden can beat the horns screens and stay in front of Fox

Teams have been doubling Fox at half court lately. Good to see high horns to counter.

This is a really good breakdown and is the perfect example of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. By the time the Wolves figured out how to slow us down it was too late. I would like to point out, however, that on that last play it wasn’t so much Ant figuring it out as much as Fox going too high over the screen. It appears that Fox starts his movement a bit too early, which forces Sabonis and Barnes to set the screens they could in order to not get called for a moving screen. This allowed Ant to go over the screen and, as he is almost as quick as Fox, he was able to stay in front. Had Fox waited maybe a split second later he could have forced Ant into the screen and gotten an easier shot. I would also like to point out that they did a piss poor job of stopping ball, which has been a point of emphasis for our defense this year. If you don’t stop ball, there’s no point of even boxing out your man because there won’t be a rebound to be had.

Still, great job by the team last night in recognizing that Minnesota could not figure out this play and just running it over and over. Sometimes that’s all you need to do.

Haven’t watched the video yet, but I remembered in his presser Mike Brown mentioned Sabonis held him accountable by bringing up that they’d been running a play over and over and over in practice for 20 minutes and Mike didn’t call for that play until Sabonis reminded him. Is that what this is?

Did we not have this play in our playbook when we faced the Pelicans or we did, but it wasn’t effective against them?
