1. If you are using Epic Games Launcher, GOG, or Amazon Games, use the Heroic Games Launcher, available from the discover store. It perfectly allows you to download these games from all these stores seamlessly, manage each game’s wine prefix, add custom features per game such as fsync and gamemode, or even browsing these game stores directly from the app. If these are the only launchers you wish to use move to step 18.
  2. Otherwise install Bottles from the discover store.
  3. Open Bottles and go through the simple initial setup.
  4. If you wish to use constantly updated launchers such as Ubisoft or EA, you will likely need the latest Wine GE Proton build. To install it, open the “☰” button, select preferences, and install the latest wine-ge-proton build by navigating to Runners > Wine GE.
  5. Exit the page.
  6. Select the “+” button on the top left of the screen.
  7. Name it with a descriptive name and select “Gaming” as the environment.
  8. Select “Create”.
  9. If you followed step 4, set the bottle to use that compatibility layer by going into the bottle and selecting “Settings” and then selecting wine-ge-proton from the “Runner” dropdown.
  10. Click the bottle and select “Install Programs”.
  11. Find the Launcher you want and select the save icon to install it.
  12. For EA, you will need to select “Let’s Go” when installing.
  13. Install any games you want.
  14. P.S.: You may want to install games to your MicroSD card. To do this, Stop the bottle, go to its settings, and scroll to “Manage Drives”. From there you can create a new drive with the checkmark and then click the folder icon to pick a directory for this drive.
  15. From the bottle page where you selected “Install Programs”, select “Add Shortcuts”. Now, find the executable of your game.
  16. Rename the application by using the “⋮” icon and selecting “Rename…”.
  17. Select “Add to library”, not “Add to Steam”. This will allow easier management of these applications should you want to remove them. The end result will be the same.
  18. Install BoilR from the discover store.
  19. Get an API key for SteamGridDB by going to this link.
  20. Paste the API key into the settings of BoilR.
  21. Disable the Flatpak source in BoilR settings.
  22. Exit steam and click the save icon in BoilR.
  23. You can now open steam and enjoy your games with all their artwork in the Non-Steam tab of gaming mode.
