Brasileirão Série B must be the most competitive tournament in the world. This year we got to last game with 6 teams fighting for 2 promotions to Série A. Vila Nova had the easiest job of them all. They were facing ABC away, but ABC had been relegated since matchday 34 (from 38) and was already the bottom of the league.
Vila Nova was 4th and just needed to win a game against the worst team, who had lost 28 games and won only 4 to this day. Then the magic happened, Vila Nova lost 3-2 with an own goal by their captain (who even made the two goals for them) and giving a penalty by a mistake inside their area. They finished 8th in the league and with that, they saw their rival, Atlético Goianiense get the promotion.
