So I’ve had a regular steam deck since launch, and I’ve never dealt with the 5ghz WiFi issue. Yesterday I got my new oled model, and it refuses to connect to the 5ghz WiFi. It works with the 2.4, but not the 5. I’ve tried the power save setting, and still no luck. I really don’t want to send it back, but the download speed on the 2.4 is horrendous. Any ideas how to fix this easily?

how are you determining its using 2.4 vs 5? My router has both, but the SSID is the same for both frequencies. So i cant really tell which Freq. Its using.

Go into desktop mode, click the WiFi bottom right, click the down arrow next to your WiFi name, click on details and you will either see 2.4 or 5ghz

It might be a setting with your router. I’m having issues with 5G (connects but keeps saying “can’t connect to servers”.) The 2.4 is downloading at 130mb, so that seems fine for now. Turning off power setting did not help me either. Leaving my router alone though, since have a lot of other devices on 5G and don’t want to maybe fix the Deck, but screw everything else up.

I don’t have problems connecting my SD OLED to a 5 GHz SSID, but mine refuses to connect to a SSID with WPA3 or WPA3 Transition Mode. I had to create a WPA2 only network.
