As you can see in the picture above, Dota2 crashes and you cant restart it anymore because it will try to download something but will be stuck at 0%.

I have seen several threads by now, on Github and on reddit and none of which have solved it. How is it possible that this bug still is in the game after almost a year?

It does occure again and again no matter what you do. I tried re-installing Dota2 on another drive, I tried re-installing windows, and re-installing windows on another drive. I tried manually copy pasting the VPK files(over 400) to see which one is corrupted, delete it and re-download it, I have tried everything that was ever suggested but this does keep coming up. And Dota2 is the only game that bug occures.

So pelase VALVE, do something about it. It is on your github since forever.

You need more hard disk space available for the game to verify it.

I have more than 1TB free space on every drive I own.

Already ran memtest and nothing is interfering with it, the only “profile” I have activated is the XMP profile, which I think everybody has activated. Without it, Dota2 is barely runnable

Remove it or live with the vpk crash. XMP profile is what is causing your dota 2 to crash, same as mine.

The only thing that worked for me is to uninstall Dota2 from steam, then delete all remaining files in dota folder, and then reinstall the game. Did not had a single crash of corrupt pak01 file for last 3 weeks playing every day. In case you use mmr showcase in your game list, do not use it again. Cheers

You mean you manually deleted every single file after deinstalling Dota2 from Steam? Didnt try that before, but I will when the crash occures again.

What do you mean with MMR showcase? The only MMR I see is when I go on my profile -> history

        1. yes I mean after deinstallign is complete, manually delete the remaining files in the dota folder
