Hi Folks, I hope this post is welcome here

Background: I’ve been trying on and off for days to get a bridged/routed network setup using KVM and virt-manager using Linux PopOS as a host and Kali guest. Looking to get it to where my virtual Kali guest connects directly to my router using my laptops wifi adapter. Host and guest on same subnet directly connected to my router.

I get the networking, but I can’t get it to work whether I use the GUI or virsh. Then I run across this video -> https://youtu.be/DYpaX4BnNlg and around the 8 minute mark he says that an ethernet connection is needed and he couldn’t get it to work with wifi.

Normally I would find this unbelievable as I’ve used VirtualBox with this setup for years. I’ve recently moved to KVM and using virt-manager.

The video is also >2 years old, but I do have a vague recollection of hearing/reading somewhere else that a physical connection is needed for this with virt-manager. Does anyone know if this is still true, or if it ever was?? Have I been wasting my time trying to do this over wifi??

And if this is true, is it just a limitation of virt-manager and I can overcome it by learning more virsh?? I can’t get myself to believe it’s a limitation with KVM/QEMU itself.
