This year is 10 times lower than what it could have been, if you have an esports team and doing your revenue forecast, whenever that kind of thing happens it could really compromise the team ability to produce content, pay their crew, organize their work.

I am a bit shocked by this, it must feel like you have absolutely no control on the revenue, and that you may grind a long season only to find out that the big main event has a low revenue opportunity.

There is still enough money in dota2. Still biggest pricepools in esports. CS would be happy if they had a 3million pp tournament to end the year. If an org is dependent on a one time pricepool they are a shitty org anyway.

No they are making changes, previously you play entire year for chances at ti. Only few teams gets the majority of the price pool anyways. And if you don’t finish top3-4 you get nothing. Now they are going to spread out the $ throughout the year so everyone gets to eat. Can’t say good or bad yet before seeing how it plays out next year

Teams make money from so many different revenue streams. Advertisements, Sposnors, Social Media, Investors…
