Hi,
I have started to improve my homelab with Zimaboards, and I realized I will use 6 sockets to create power for 3 raspberry pi and 3 Zimaboard, what is not the cleanest and nicest solution. And I would also attach an extra disk to the Zimaboard (so 2+1), what it can’t power. I’m sure I’m not the only one who faced this problem :)
I found two ways:
Pro: more than enough power, rack mountable
Con: 300$ in the cheapest place + delivery, custom, etc. - Use an ATX PSU, and hack the Molex connector to get 12V and 5V
https://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/blog/convert-atx-psu-to-bench-supply.html
Pro: 100$ (if you don’t have unused PSU), I’ll have power for the extra SATA disks
Con: Hackish solution, not rack mountable, and I’m not sure I would like to leave powered at home.
How have you handle this? What is your solution? Or everybody is using as much socket as much microcomputer?
Thanks for the advices and ideas :)
